Travelling Around
SAUDI ARABIA
In 1979 Tessie left the Philippines to take up employment as a nurse in Jeddah, first at the Jeddah Medical Centre and later at Dr. Daghastani Hospital.
In the same year I left England to take up employment in Riyadh, later in various Saudi locations, and finally in Jeddah, working on contract for various companies in logistics.
We met in Jeddah in 1988 and finally left Saudi in 1992 for England, where we married.
*Photography, particularly in the earlier years, was forbidden in public places in Saudi, therefore whilst most photos are mine, some I have taken from the internet which reflect places we have been and know but were unable to photograph ourselves.
PHILIPPINES
Within weeks of our marriage we moved to Manila in the Philippines where I started a new contract as Country Manager for a UK
company mainly involved with the seaport container handling and copper mining industries. We lived in Manila where Tessie enjoyed being close to her family, and I got to know them
better.
Although my work took us back to the Middle East 4 years later, we have kept a house in Manila and a house in Clitheroe UK, using them for our vacations until our early retirement in 2008.
We spend the summers in the UK and the winters in the Philippines until 2015. Since 2015 we have lived in the
Philippines.

QATAR AND DUBAI
In 1997 we went to Qatar where we lived and worked for the next eleven years until deciding to retire early, often going to nearby
Dubai. Tessie worked mornings at the nearby Oasis Hotel for 3 years as Hotel Nurse.
*We lived a short walk from the Marriott Hotel (where we were club members) and Ritz / Sharq hotels where we often spent the
evenings. I have used their own photos which are much better than mine.
