Birch Families of Low Moor
On the above map dated 1893 the houses marked in red are where either born Birch or born Howarth families lived. The houses marked in yellow are where daughters born Birch or born Howarth lived after marriage.
Whilst some of the house locations are accurate others are less so, because of new houses added since this map, houses demolished since this map and some streets renumbered at least once since this map.
Below are three lists of ancestors in Clitheroe and surrounding districts: Those born Birch and those born Howarth (my paternal ancestors) listed by Christian Name showing the various places that they lived and a third list by address. Some ancestors moved further afield later in their lives - Manchester, Blackburn, Blackpool etc., and these locations are not shown. Most of these ancestors were employed in the cotton manufacturing industries - Clitheroe being home to many cotton mills, as was Lancashire in general. Some employed in Stonemasonry, a few in Agriculture and one being Waddington Parish Clerk. Wives not born Birch or Howarth and cousins are not shown as there are too many.
