The Village of Low Moor -

Established to Support the Cotton Industry

Although I was born in Birmingham, which was the home of my mother and maternal grandparents, I lived my childhood and teenage years in Low Moor village on the outskirts of Clitheroe in Lancashire, where my father and paternal grandparents were born and lived.

I have kept links with, and a home in the village all my life, despite having spent most of my life living and working abroad.

Whilst recently doing ancestry research, and finding  that many of my paternal ancestors lived in Low Moor village and were mostly cotton mill workers, I decided to research the village and cotton mill life.

I looked up the history of the village on the internet and was surprised to find very little information - and what information there was, was very fragmented and difficult to find.

This, therefore, is the bringing together of information about the history of Low Moor village, the village cotton mill, and my memories of the village.

Also, I intend to eventually incorporate this informaion with my ancestry research and other research that I am doing in to the history of the cotton milling industry as one of my retirement hobbies.
